Had Gran been born in an age of ‘opportunity and choice’, as is enjoyed by the youth of today, her life would have been very different in many ways. She would, no doubt, have gone on to
further her education and eventually pursue what would have been considered ‘a successful career’.
And yet, as I reflect on
her long life, I find myself asking the question - what could be more ‘successful’ than to be remembered affectionately as a Caring and Devoted Wife, a Loving Mother, and a
Very Special Person to her four Grand-daughters and seven
Great-Grandchildren?
Among Gran’s possessions we found a box filled with letters, cards, drawings etc. These had been given to her over the
years by the children of each generation in her family. Gran had kept and treasured them almost seventy years and I am sure they meant more to her than
any ‘worldly' success.
This was our ‘Gran’ and we thank our God for every remembrance of her.
