Thomas served in the War of 1812, being drafted as a substitute in Captain Solomon Hendrick's company in Colonel Sam Bayless' regiment in General Coulter's brigade of the East Tennessee Militia. He was a corporal serving from 11/13/1814 to 5/19/1815, when he was furloughed to regain his health. His widow thought he was mustered in and out around Knoxville and that he went as far as Ft. Claiborne or Mobile,but she was not certain. Thomas died in Greene County, Tennessee, USA on November 26, 1842.

This information came from materials sent to Edley Wainright Martin,Jr. by Carol Dickey that includes a copy of a pension application by Catherine Shaffer Hunter dated October 19, 1871 that contains the names and dates presented.

Notes for Bernard Geoffrey Cousens (A.M.C.T.) - Source 'Bun' Cousens - AKA Bernard Geoffrey

Was in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW II. Employed by The Corporation of the City of Kingston from 1946 until retirement in 1984. Was City Treasurer for 22 years. He was also Secretary Treasurer of the Kingston Community Memorial Center for nearly two decades. Secretary for the Kingston Board of Health for a number of years. Was active in the Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Assoc. And served on their Education Committee for a number of years during the development of their course through Queens University. Also served on the Municipal Treasures Provincial Advisory Committee.
Was a Level three National Certified Hockey Coach and coached Minor Hockey for a number of years. He was the Son of Ruth Etta Rickett and Geoffrey Boyd Cousens

Served in the Hastings and Prince Edward Reg. During WW2
Came to Canada under the Dr. Barnardo plan that was like an orphanage in UK His brother Robert Boyd also came to Canada under that plan. Robert went to Crystal Ont. and Geoffrey went to Foxmead Ontario. they both worked on farms. Geoff got together with his Brother Robert at Crystal and stayed at the farm that Robert was at after Robert went out west. It was not far from Crystal that Geoffrey met Ruth Rickett and they were Married

Notes for Karen Jane Cousens - Source 'Bun' Cousens

Karen was elected Secretary of the Ecclesia at L C V I .Her campaign motto was, "IF YOU WANT A SECRETARY THAT'S REALLY BUZZIN
CAST YOUR VOTE FOR KAREN COUSEN"
She was a graduate of The Kingston General Hospital Operating Room Course.
Karen was also employed at the Province of Ontario M.T.C.
Karen became an events co-coordinator for Child find in 1998 believing that having children finger printed was an effective measure to locate missing children.
Karen won the 1999 Volunteer of the year award for the Kingston Chapter of Child Find of Ontario. The following is an excerpt from the award: "Karen has committed her time to Child Find since joining our Chapter. Her dynamic personality & unselfish donation of her time have truly been a huge boost to our organization. She has maintained constant communication with our community newspapers, organizing events & even took on a public speaking engagement last April for Welcome Wagon's Expectant Mothers. Congratulations, Karen The honor is well deserved"
