Clementine Davidson's parents had a large plantation near Duck River, TN. They were financially stable enough to afford slaves; however, Hugh Davidson refused to allow even his most devoted servants to work on Sundays. Clementine learned to read, write, and do simple arithmetic. She was 5 feet tall and red-headed. She was good natured and had several friends with whom she walked to the Methodist church on Sundays. One day after Clementine's 18th birthday, she married Thomas Walton Kimbro in Coffee Co. TN. ; they lived on a farm where their first two children were born. Susan was named for her grandmothers Susan Davidson and Ann Kimbro. Benjamin was named for his grandfathers Benjamin Kimbro and Hugh Davidson. The family moved to Pike Co., ARK, sometime between 29 March 1858 and 10 July 1859. The 400 mile journeyleft Susan Ann a victim of dysentery. Benjamin died 21 July 1861 of the same illness. Both were only 3 at the time of death. Nancy Jane was born 18 May 1860. She crawled into the open fireplace before her first birthday and burned her hand so severely that it had to be amputated. Nancy lived to be 70 and raised a large family with the use of only one hand. The family moved to Izard Co., ARK after Thomas Walton Kimbro returned from fighting in the Civil War. He lost his sight in one eye and went home two years before the fighting ended ; it was 1863. They farmed and waited out the end of the war. Then the growing family moved to Fulton Co. in 1867. Cynthia Elizabeth was born on 5 Apr 1867 and John Thomas on 1 Aug 1870. By this time the family had moved to Sharp Co. ARK, the resting place of yet another child; Mary Malcom Kimbro died on 24 July 1872 of dysentery at the age of eight. On 8 Dec 1874, the 22 month oldMargarette also sucummed to the deadly malady. She is buried in Erath Co. TX. Julia Frances was born on 28 July 1875, and they lived on a large farm near presentday Stephenville, TX. The entire family worked on the farm to support themselves with making soap, curing meat, chopping cotton, gathering corn, cultivating, and harvesting. Once a month they took their wheat to the mill to have it ground into flour. Jennie Belle was born on 24 oct 1877 and Martha Clementine, the tenth child of Clementine and Hugh Davidson, arrived on 21 Jan 1881. The last of the Kimbro children , Mc Duffie Reel Kimbro, born to an almost 46 year old mother, showed up on 23 Feb 1883. Clementine sufferred a stroke, which left her with a lisp and unable to write when she was 50 years old. The family lived on the farm in Erath Co. for 24 years. Thomas Walton Kimbro moved his family in shame after his son-in-law, Crowdus Roberson, became involved in a murder. Thomas had to sell his farm to pay the bond money. They moved to Wayland, TX, where he died on 6 Mar 1908. Thomas Kimbro and Clementine Davidson Kimbro, along with their youngest child are buried in Wayland.
